A disc cam for hydraulic motors with control slots, control ducts and a central bore for fixing on the shaft is composed of a preferably ledeburitically solidified and low-alloyed cast iron. In its manufacture the disc cam is cast directly including all openings and ducts preferably in a sand casting process. The die is composed largely or entirely of an elastomer and is so designed that under pressure when compacting the moulding sand it is deformed, forming the disc cam shape with wall faces of the openings and ducts running perpendicular to its plane surfaces. Due to the absence of mould draft present in the case of metal dies, casting of the disc cam including all ducts and the use of a relatively low alloy cast iron, the finishing costs and raw material costs are considerably reduced. <IMAGE>
