Catheter (10) designed for introduction into a body cavity or a body vessel and having a catheter tube (12) and, at one end, an attachment and securing arrangement, the securing arrangement being in the form of a plate (26) which covers the site of insertion of the catheter (10) in the skin in a sterile manner and preferably in such a way that the skin can breathe. In this way, a secure fit of the catheter (10) is guaranteed on the one hand, and on the other hand the sterility of the insertion site is preserved. <IMAGE>
