In a seat, especially a motor-vehicle seat having a backrest and a seat cushion connected to this, a thigh support is arranged pivotably in the front region of the seat cushion on the seat-cushion carrier and is vertically adjustable via a manually actuable setting mechanism. In order, with the thighs of the seat user raised, to bring the thigh support to selectable height automatically by one-handed actuation and lock it in this position, the setting mechanism possesses locking tabs vertically displaceable automatically on both sides during setting and coupled to the thigh support. For blocking, these locking tabs can be locked fixedly on the seat-cushion carrier at one of a plurality of selectable heights. At the same time, as is evident especially from Figure 2, the thigh support is connected rotatably to the locking tab via supporting tabs, there being arranged at the point of articulation between the locking tab and supporting tab a blocking bolt which is axially displaceable by means of a central hand lever and which, for blocking, engages into one of a plurality of blocking receptacles in a bearing cheek of the seat-cushion carrier.
