In order to prevent malfunctions in the refrigerating circuit as a result of the failure of a conventionally used electromechanical controller, on interruption of the actuating signal generated by the controller, a timer is triggered, which can be reset depending upon the actuating signal and which generates a control signal after an adjustable delay time has elapsed. As a result, continuous operation of the motor compressor arranged in the refrigerating circuit is initiated, which is signalled as a malfunction by an optical and/or acoustic indication. <IMAGE>
