This alarm device comprises an acoustic signal circuit which is armed by means of a switching measure which can be carried out by the user and is switched on by an alarm contact operated when the deposited container is lifted up. So that the authorised user can cancel the armed state of the signal circuit with the container closed and without additional keys or the like, the invention provides that an electrical switching device is looped into the acoustic signal circuit, which switching device, when activated, switches through the signal circuit via a first switching command, that a codeword can be stored via an input device and a second switching command and that with a subsequent new input of the stored codeword, the switching device can be activated in such a manner that it interrupts the signal circuit.
