PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve poison resistance performance and mechanical strength of an element, by a method wherein a porous ceramic is utilized for controlling permeability to a gas sensitive portion so as to prevent change of properties due to the fixing position of an element and to provide an element sensitive at low temperature. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 with heat resistant insulation characteristics consists of flat-shaped dense alumina. The substrate 1 has a square hollow 2 at the end thereof, and the square hollow 2 is filled up with metallic semiconductor 3 therein, and the open surface of which is coated with catalyzer oxide layer 4. Porous earthenware 5 is fixed to the substrate 1 by means of adhesives. An element is fixed to a combustor etc., and then the combustion is started to heat the element up to operating temperature by high-temperature combustible gas. Combustible gas passes through the earthenware 5 and the catalyzer layer 4 and touchs the semiconductor 3. As permeability is restrained by the earthenware 5, many unreacted ingredients are remained, or even with low catalyzer characteristics due to low temperature, the semiconductor 3 comes in touch with equilibrated gas. Further, poisonous ingredients are absorbed and eliminated by the earthenware 5. |
