The invention is an inclined stopping device for use in conveyor equipment for sawed wood, especially root trimming devices, the device being used for determining movement in the longitudinal direction of the wood to be cut. Precise, pre-determined movement in the longitudinal direction of wood in relation to a saw blade (3) is executed in such a unit in such a way that the wood moves transversely with the help of an en mass conveyor (2) running towards the saw blade (3) while moving in the longitudinal direction of a roller conveyor (4) a distance sufficient to allow the portion of wood with inferior quality or that exceeds a pre-determined multiple of a module measurement to be cut from the wood. On determination of longitudinal transport distance, a stop inclined towards the rollers' (4) direction of transport and lifts (6) that pluck the wood from the rollers' (4) grip are used. When the pre-determined movement in the longitudinal direction has been made, the wood piece (1) is taken off the rollers (4) by the lift (6), whereby the power driving the wood in the longitudinal direction is cut-off. An inclined stop piece (7), against which the ends of the wood pieces (1) press during the entire movement, prevents the wood's inertial force to cause the lifts (6) to move in the longitudinal direction, which allows the longitudinal position of the wood to be determined with great accuracy. With this invention, the stop piece (7) is curved in such a way that the end of a wood piece (1) is held in continuous contact with it even in a less favourable case. The stop's inclined part (7) can also be vertically curved, whereby lifting of the wood piece permits the stop in the direction of transverse movement and lift movement forms a right-angled block against wood movement.<IMAGE> |
