Control of power station blocks with less than all the generators running, which is disadvantageous economically and technically, and increased wear in the control devices are avoided using a frequency control circuit, in that a dynamic threshold value of the frequency deviations which initiate control action is created by means of a correction circuit, which dynamic threshold value permits larger deviation values at the start of a frequency deviation and approaches a static threshold value asymptotically thereafter, within a specific time period. In consequence, it can be achieved that 95% of all frequency deviation cases are left to the self-controlling characteristics of the composite networks and control actions are required in only 5% of frequency deviation cases. <IMAGE>
