[Also in Division A5] A sheet material such as bleached Kraft paper is coated or impregnated with a bactericidal composition and is then provided with a liner or film base impermeable to the bactericidal vapour, e.g. a film base of paraffin wax, cellulose acetate, polyvinylidene chloride, ethylene glycolterephthalic acid polymer, polyethylene or aluminium foil. The bactericidal composition comprises a formaldehyde vapour donor (e.g. paraformaldehyde, trioxane or trishydroxymethyl nitromethane) and 6-acetoxy-2,4-dimethyl - m - dioxane, ethyl benzoate, methyl benzoate and/or methyl-p-hydroxy-benzoate. Applications may be hospital bags, liners for trash and disposal cans, disinfecting bags, packaging for sterile objects and shelf liners.
