A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which a valve closure element (18) is influenced by two closing and recovery forces. The one force is produced by a magnet (50) and has a characteristic curve (90) which decreases from a high initial value (F1) when the valve (16, 20) is closed to a low final value (F2) during the full opening stroke of the valve closure element (18). The other closing force is likewise produced by magnets (70, 80) and has a characteristic curve (96) which progressively increases from a low initial value (F3) to a high final value (F4). The resulting force characteristic curve (98) starts from a high initial value (F5), has its minimum value (F6) approximately in mid-stroke and progressively increases towards the end to a final value (F7), which is approximately equal to the initial value (F5). This permits a rapid increase in the injection quantity when the valve is opened and returns the valve needle rapidly to the valve seat without delay when it is closed. <IMAGE>
