The invention relates to a tubular mast comprising lengths of steel tube which are plugged one onto the other and the diameters of which become smaller towards the tip of the mast and exhibit a conically drawn-in portion, at the upper end of which there is formed a circumferential shoulder on which the plugged-on length of tube is fitted with the aid of a conical clamping bush which is plugged therein and, for its part, is plugged over a conical, tubular continuation which belongs to the lower length of tube and via which the frictional and clamping forces, necessary for holding the lengths of tube together, are transmitted. The lengths of tube designed in this way do not need to be braced, welded or adhesively bonded to one another. They permit the assembly, at the site of erection, of tubular masts of any length, as a result of which considerable transportation and storage costs are saved. The configuration of an annular flange at the lower end of the clamping bush, which flange cannot be brought into direct contact with the circumferential shoulder of the lower length of tube when the upper length of tube is plugged on, simplifies the assembly and the sealing of the individual lengths of tube since it fulfils simultaneously the function of a sealing and spacer ring.
