Arrangement for monitoring electrical devices for the formation of one or several arcs

An optical detector for the radiation coming from arcs is connected to an arrangement which distinguishes between hazardous fault arcs and arcs due to the operation. Arcs due to the operation are switching arcs which occur when switching elements are operated in electrical devices and have a length dependent on the duration of the switching process. This duration is utilised by the arrangement for distinguishing between switching arcs and fault arcs.
