The air coolers used underground for cooling the mine air foul up after a relatively short period in operation, since the mine air is laden with dust which precipitates on the cooling tubes. By providing a pre-deduster upstream, a major part of the dust is precipitated. The spraying agent required for this purpose is kept low by circulating the spraying agent. The spraying agent is here first purified by means of a multi-hydrocyclone to such an extent that the overflow is available again as spraying agent. The underflow from the multi-hydrocyclone is aftertreated in a clarification tank with flocculants, and the overflow from the clarification tank can be used for other purposes or, under certain conditions, also re-used as spraying agent.
