The invention relates to an arrangement for loading and unloading drawing cages at a shaft, in particular at a blind shaft, of underground mining operations. The arrangement includes first of all a feed track for mine cars which leads in an allocated roadway to a shaft door, an exiting track for mine cars, and a driven, self-propelled manipulating car with a pivotable and if need be retractable and extendable crane arm. Located on the latter is a manipulator for the material to be manipulated. The manipulating car can be moved on a track. An intermediate storage rack unit is arranged at a distance from the shaft door, which distance is several times, for example twice, the length of the manipulating car, next to the track on which the manipulating car runs. This intermediate storage rack unit has several rack tiers in accordance with the height of the roadway. Located in front of the intermediate storage rack unit is a rail-borne receiving platform which in turn carries a stacker loading device. Material moved up by means of the manipulating car can be put down on the receiving platform or material put down there can be picked up. The material can be inserted into the rack unit or can be removed from it with the loading device of the receiving platform. <IMAGE>
