The invention relates to a non-return valve with a resiliently flexible seating surface, the spring characteristic running progressively. Depending on the type of design of the non-return valve, the seating surface is connected directly, or via a tubular projection indirectly, to a corrugated membrane ring. When the closing piece is resting on the seating surface and forces are acting thereon, the membrane is deformed and is supported against a stop ring as the compression forces increase. Said stop ring transmits the forces acting on it to the flange of the pipeline which is to be connected to the non-return valve. A correspondingly flexible retention of the closing piece ensures that the latter follows the position change of the seating surface.
