A cover for transport wells for coils or the like in vehicles with a planar loading platform for transporting piece items. The cover is designed such that it has an approximately triangular cross-sectional shape in the installation position and viewed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the lower corner of which, lying opposite the longest side, pointing into the transport well. By virtue of the triangular cross-sectional shape, a favourable section modulus of the cover is achieved. On the basis of the favourable section modulus, the cover's own weight can be substantially reduced.
