The powered tool consists of a motor, transmission gearing and a gear unit converting the rotary movement in a reciprocating rectilinear movement of a plunger provided with a tool-clamping device. In order to provide a second working plane on powered tools of this type with respect to the progress of the work, which second working plane is at right angles to the first, and thus to provide a further possible application for the powered tool, the plunger guide (32) is arranged at the front end in front of the transmission gearing, or a guide for an auxiliary plunger can be attached at the front end in front of the transmission gearing, and the auxiliary plunger can be coupled to the main plunger. <IMAGE>
