The invention relates to a control system for controlling the current supply to the heating element (R2) of an electric blanket and, in series with the heating element (R2), has a heat switch (E1/S1) which ensures that the current supply is connected and interrupted cyclically when the electric blanket or the apparatus is in use. A signal related to the temperature of the heating element (R2) is derived from a sensor device (I, R30) and a transistor (Q), operated as a function of this signal, is used for controlling the current flow through the heat switch, specifically in the sense of stabilising the temperature. <IMAGE>
