In the case of an injection internal combustion engine with an air intake duct designed as a swirl duct, pressurised gas is fed under control through one or more injection apertures into the valve chamber in order to influence the swirl. The injection apertures designed as slots or bores are arranged either in the peripheral wall of the valve chamber directly adjacent to the valve seat ring or partially or entirely in the valve seat ring. The bores or slots can therefore be easily sunk from the plane surface of the cylinder head or on the valve seat ring itself.
