The invention relates to a process for bleaching cellulose-containing material, in detail for bleaching in a multi-stage sequence, in which the first bleaching stage is carried out in two phases, that is to say a first phase with elemental chlorine and a second phase with chlorine dioxide water. One subject of the invention is a reduction in the chlorination of the organic material. According to the invention, this is achieved by limiting the proportion of chlorine fed in the first phase in such a way that the end pH in the liquid of the chlorine phase exceeds 3.0. |
