PURPOSE:To perform effective absorption of impure gas and prevent visible rays from being shielded by deposition on a tube wall by a method wherein in a metal halide lamp with inner volume not exceeding 1cc, a metal having a high melting point and deposited with a scandium metal up to a range of 1.0mg is enclosed into a luminous tube. CONSTITUTION:A film 7 of a scandium metal is deposited on a surface of a high melting point metal 6 by means of e.g. vapor phase chemical plating or vacuum vapor deposition, whereby the total amount of said scandium metal film 7 inside of a luminous tube is controlled within the range of 0.1-1.0mg. Deposition volume of the scandium metal film 7 can be controlled by plating time. Thereby the metal 6 with the high melting point, whereon the scandium metal film 7 is deposited, is cut into suitable length as shown in the figure, to be enclosed into the luminous tube 1, whereby the metal 6 with the high melting point whereon the scandium metal film 7 is deposited, adsorbs impure gas inside of the luminous tube 1 through the scandium metal 7 on the surface thereof. |
