PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which permits the reduction in the spacing between rolls, the reduction in the diameter of roll body parts and the production of high-quality slabs by fitting the roll body parts into bearing stands having arc-shaped bearing surfaces, running out pressure water onto the bearing surfaces and supporting the roll body parts. CONSTITUTION:The overall length in the roll body part 2 of a roll 1 for continuous casting is fitted into a bearing stand 5 having an arc-shaped bearing surface 6 and pressure water is ejected through plural water outflow holes 8 opened in a water groove 7 recessed in the axial direction at the center in the bottom part of the surface 6. The pressure water goes around the entire surface in the spacing between the part 2 and the surface 6 and supports the load of a slab and the roll 1 by the static pressure of the water. Thus the diameter of the roll 1 is reduced and supporting members 4 in shaft parts 3 are made as small as to suppress the axial displacement of the roll 1. The surface 6 of said stand 5 has length roughly equal to the overall length of the part 2 and is made into an arc surface covering more than half the circumference of the part 2. |
