PURPOSE:To permit automatic and speedy switching as required between 2-wheel driving and 4-wheel driving according to the necessity by calculating the difference between the car speed and the wheel speed. CONSTITUTION:When a solenoid 11 is turned OFF in step 20, a clutch 10 is maintained in released state, and a car travels in 2-wheel driving, the difference between the speed detected from a car-speed sensor 8 in step 23 and the wheel speed detected by a revolution sensor 12 in step 24 is calculated, and said calculated value is compared with the set value in step 25. When the difference is equal to the set value, the traveling free from the slip between the road surface and a tire is judged, and 2-wheel driving is continued. When the difference is less than the set value, the slip between the road surface and the tire is judged, and the solenoid 11 is turned ON in step 26. Therefore, a clutch 10 is connected, and switching to 4-wheel driving is performed. |
