NEW MATERIAL:A compound (salt) of formulaI(R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is H or lower alkyl; R3 is alkyl). EXAMPLE:1'-Ethoxycarbonyloxyethyl 7-[2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-cephem-4-carboxy late (syn-isomer). USE:An antimicrobial agent for Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, etc. with very low toxicity, administered in a daily does of 1-20mg/kg body weight for suppurative diseases in an adult in 3-4 divided fractions. PROCESS:A compound of formula II, e.g. sodium 7-[2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2- methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-cephem-4-carboxylate, is reacted with a compound of formula III (X is halogen), e.g. alpha-iododiethyl carbonate, in the presence of a solvent under cooling to give the exemplified compound. |
