A method of cleaning heat exchangers through which gas flows, in which a plurality of separate bodies forms a fluidized bed during operation of the heat exchanger. The bodies may be balls or be saddle-shaped. In a rotary heat exchanger the bodies form a loose bed acting as a dirt trap at the approach flow side of the cold gas, and clean themselves by mutual collisions and friction in a fluidized bed at the outlet side of the hot gas. In a tube heat exchanger in which the heating or cooling agent flows through tubes in a gas chamber, the bodies are accommodated in the gas chamber. <IMAGE> |
