The probe consists of a closed tube(a), which contains a sensor monitoring the amplitude of vibration of a structure. The probe(a) is fed from the outside of a reactor through a guide tube(b) located in the reactor; and tube(b) leads to a holder fixed to the structure, so probe(a) can be located in the holder. The holder pref. has a conical bore mating with a corresp. cone on the outside surface of probe(a), i.e. so the latter is securely located in the holder. The probe(a) and the holder are pref. made of materials with different coeffts. of thermal expansion, so the two are securely joined together when heated in the reactor, but are loose when cool. Probe(a) is pref. connected to an external meter by a cable passing through tube(b). |
