PURPOSE:To enable to obtain a high pressure and a high water head, by applying proper machining to an impeller with a projected peripheral portion, and causing smooth circulation of water at the peripheral portion of the impeller. CONSTITUTION:Inside a casing 8 formed a casing chamber 1 with a curved surface conforming to the swirl of a fluid, there is disposed an impeller consisting of a main plate 2, a side plate 4 and blades 9, having a peripheral portion projected into the casing chamber 1, and formed with many radial recesses 6 or many arcuate, radial recesses 6a in the outer surfaces of a projected portion 3 of the main plate 2 and a projected portion 5 of the side plate 4. With such an arrangement, fluid drawn into the chamber 1 along with rotation of the impeller produces vortices 13 in the chamber 1 since the speed of rotation is high at the peripheral portion of the impeller, and the vortex flows 13 are carried into a low-speed area if the main stream in the casing 1, so that pressure is raised. Further, the vortex flows enter into the recesses 6, 6a. While repeating the above process, a high pressure is produced and a high water head can be obtained. |
