PURPOSE:To apply the conversion of scanning line density without whitening by allowing a data selection means to select data of a line having a black level data in picture signals for two lines and to output one line information. CONSTITUTION:A 4-bit storage element is assigned to each picture element for one line memory 11 and each picture element density is stored digitally in 16-stage. A comparator 12 compares one picture element data (a) of the preceding scanning line with one picture element data (b) of the present scanning line. As a result, when the relaton of a>b exists, that is, the data (a) has a high black density, a discrimination signal to select the data (a) is outputted, and if a<b, a signal to select the data (b) is outputted. A selection circuit 13 switches the memory 11 and output terminals of the read sensor by switching operation to select and output the picture element of the preceding or present scanning line corresponding to each picture element and outputs the picture data. Thus, the line picture element data with a data of larger black density in the picture signals for 2 lines is outputted from the circuit 13. |
