<p>PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility and oxidation resistance of metallic magnetic powder by adding a specified compound contg. a nitrogen atom to a magnetic layer contg. the magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic paint is prepared by adding a compound contg. an N atom, having >=15 stability constant to iron ion and represented by the general formula (where each of R1 and R2 is H, -COOM, -OH or lower alkyl, each of R3 and R4 is H, -COOM, pyridyl, amino -OH, -SO3M or lower alkyl, R5 is H or -OH, M is H or an alkali metal, A is N or =CH, and R1 and R2 may bond to each other to form a benzene ring) to a composition composed chiefly of ferromagnetic metallic powder, a binder and a solvent. The magnetic paint is applied to a nonmagnetic support and properly after-treated to obtain a magnetic recording medium.</p> |
