PURPOSE:To enhance the dispersibility of magnetic powder, the surface smoothness and durability of a magnetic recording medium, etc. by using a binder composed of specified resins for forming the magnetic layer and a cross-linking agent. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating is prepared by blending a binder composed of polyurethan resin contg. -SO3Na and having superior dispersibility, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer contg. >=8% vinyl alcohol, and nitrocellulose providing stability to the coating with a cross-linking agent made of isocyanate, magnetic particles, a solvent, etc. The magnetic coating is applied to a substrate film and properly after-treated to obtain a magnetic recording medium. |
