PURPOSE:To enhance the surface properties, orienting and running properties and durability by using vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer having a specified composition as a component of a binder for forming the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating is prepared by blending a binder made of vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer or composed of the terpolymer and other resin such as rubberlike resin with magntic particles, a solvent, etc. The terpolymer consists of about 89-20wt% vinyl chloride, about 10- 60wt% vinyl acetate and about 1-20wt% vinyl alcohol. The magnetic coating is applied to a nonmagnetic support and properly after-treated to obtain a magnetic recording medium. |
