PURPOSE:To prevent heat generation, and to test characteristics easily and precisely by applying a pulse current to high magnetic permeability magnetic bodies for magnetic shielding provided on one or both sides of a magnetoresistance effect type thin film magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:Between high magnetic permeability magnetic bodies 1 and 5 for magnetic shielding, a magneto-resistance effect type thin film magnetic head (MR head) 2 and a high resistance magnetic film 4 for biasing are arranged. A pulse current IA is flowed from a pulse current source 7 to the high magnetic permeability magnetic body 5 for magnetic shielding to apply a voltage proportional to the current IA to the horizontal axis terminal X of a synchroscope. A sense current IS is flowed to the MR head 2 and the developed voltage depending upon variation in resistance is amplified at a part 9 and inputted to the terminal Y of the synchroscope. Thus, a breakdown due to the value of heating at the shield 5 is prevented to perform precise measurement without adding a special device. |
