PURPOSE:To perform a precise detection of a size and a direction of a flaw, by a method wherein two or more detecting coils, being different in an opposing direction from each other, are mounted, and the size, the direction, and the position of the flaw are determined from detecting outputs therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A detecting coil pair 109 in a flaw detector is constituted such that a pair is located in parallel to a rotating direction, and mean-while, in a detecting coil 110, a pair is situated at a right angle to a rotating diraction. The detecting coil pair 109 is connected as nao to the outside from a stationary arm side through coils 107 and 104 of a rotary transformer, and similarly, the detecting coil pair 109 is connected as nbo to the outside from the stationary arm through the coils 107 and 104. In this constitution, the determination of a size, a direction, and a position of a flaw from the detecting outputs therefrom permits the precise detection of the size and the direction of the flaw. |
