PURPOSE:To grind a roll into a desired rolling roll profile, by providing a device for measuring a cross-sectional shape of roll in the direction of the roll axis by putting both ends of a reduction roll as the reference points in roll diam. measurement and grinding the roll basing on said measured cross-sectional shape. CONSTITUTION:A roll profile measuring device 5 is attached to a beam 7 spanned between both housings placed at driving and operating sides by cylinders 6a and 6b which retreat and advance the device 5, and is movable in the direction perpendicular to the roll 2 axis. Further, the device 5 has numbers of noncontacting distance meters 8 located against the roll 2 surface. On the other hand, a roll grinding device consists of an edged tool 10, a grinder 11 having a mechanism to move the tool 10, and a mechanism 12 to move the grinder 11 in the direction of the roll 2 axis. Then, the grinding device grinds the roll 2 so that the space of the roll 2 coincides with a previously set roll cross-sectional shape which is measured with the aid of the device 5 by putting the roll ends at the driving and operating sides as the reference points of roll measurement. |
