PURPOSE:To permit an optical character reader to read characters stably even if the ink of a ball-point pen contains a red color component, by connecting a red color component removing filter to the reader when a red colore component is detected by a red color component detecting means. CONSTITUTION:On an OCR form, some part is painted in black with a ball- point pen, and when the form is set at a hopper part, the part painted in black is detected by a red detecting means 2. Once this detecting means 2 detects a red color component in the ink of the ball-point pen, a switching mechanism 3 is driven to move a red color removing filter 4 to in front of a photodetector. When any red color component is not detected, the filter 4 is moved to be put away. |
