The machine has a multi-material proportioning pump which injects measured vols. of component raw materials into a reaction vessel. The materials may be liq., fluid solid or gas. From the reaction vessel, expanded prod. is piped to an extrusion nozzle which delivers laterally conveyor 'strings' on to a reception conveyor band, roller or equivalent advancing surface. The surface speed of the conveyor band exceeds extrusion speed sufficiently to pull apart each string into granule fractions. The conveyor band delivers separate, hardened granules into the reception hopper of a sack-filling machine etc. The machine is employed in the prodn. of bulk granules of expanded material, esp. urea-formaldehyde foam or similar expansible plastics. Other materials such as cement, plaster etc. can be treated. The granules are used as insulation for heat and noise, as a soil lightener, as a filling material around packaged, fragile articles, etc. The process produces no waste or dust problem. |
