PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a carpet without deteriorating its form keeping property, by applying a copolymerized emulsion comprising butyl acrylate and styrene at a prescribed ratio, to the reverse side of needle-punched non- woven fabric, so that the emulsion is impregnated from the reverse side of the fabric. CONSTITUTION:A copolymerized emulsion 12, which comprises 30 to 70pts.wt. of butyl acrylate and 70 to 30pts.wt. of styrene, is applied to the reverse side of napped and needle-punched non-woven fabric 11 so that the emulsion is impregnated from the reverse side. The non-woven fabric is made of natural fibers of cotton, wool or the like, semi-synthetic fibers such as rayon or synthetic fibers of ester, nylon, acrylic resin, polypropylene or the like. A carpet thus manufactured can be fitted with felt on the reverse side to be used for a vehicle. |
