The invention relates to an apparatus for monitoring the temperature of bearings, especially crankshaft journal bearings on an internal combustion engine having a pressurised-oil line leading to the fixed bearing pedestal in proximity to the journal bearing, the outlet of which line to the sump is sealed by a fuse designed as a plug, a pressurised-oil tank provided with an air cushion being connected to an optical and/or acoustic warning device which responds in a pressure-dependent manner.
