On the outside of a flange of a tape reel for an information medium in tape form, such as audio tape, video tape, film tape, there is an information memory track, advantageously a magnetic memory track, applied concentrically to the reel axis. This track contains for the most part additional information to the information on the information medium in tape form, in particular a directory of the information stored on the tape reel. If such a tape reel is an unerasable component part of a tape cassette, the tape cassette contains a break-through at the point of the information memory track, so that in the operating state of a tape recorder, in the recording device of which the tape cassette is loaded, a readable/write head of an arrangement for visual display of the information of this information memory track enters into an effective connection with this information memory track. <IMAGE>
