The invention relates to a wheelchair for individuals with a walking and/or standing impediment, whose lateral parts can be folded together or unfolded by means of a parallel linkage by folding the seat upwards or downwards. Seat and backrest are designed as rigid shells fitted with shaped cushioning. An adjustable headrest which can be folded away for transport purposes and can be locked in its functional position by means of an integrated sliding bracket extending over the entire width of the backrest is hinged to the backrest which can be adjusted in the manner of passenger vehicle front seats. The armrests can be inserted in self-locking fashion in the lateral parts and can be folded away so as to be aligned with the backrest. The braking device comprises drum brakes built into the hubs of the driving wheels. The operating levers for adjustment of the backrest and brake are arranged so as to be aligned with the seat plane. The lateral parts, the bars of the backrest and the seat and backrest shells are made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics in order to save weight. The wheelchair is equipped with eyes for the accommodation of safety belts. |
