1,183,516. Photoconductive material. RANK XEROX Ltd. 24 May, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 24125/67. Heading H1K. A photoconductive material comprises a charge-transfer complex of a Lewis acid and a polyphenylene oxide resin. The preferred resin is made from 2,6-xylenol, 2-methyl phenol, 2- propyl phenol, 2-i-butyl phenol, 2,6-diethyl phenol, 2,6-di-isopropyl phenol or 2-ethyl-6- methyl phenol. The preferred Lewis acids are 2,4,7-trinitro-9-fluorenone, tetrachlorophthalic anhydride, 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone and 9 - (dicyanomethylene) - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene, but numerous others are listed. Electrophotographic plates may be made by mixing the Lewis acid and the polyphenylene oxide resin in a solvent together with a dyestuff and an ethyl methacrylate resin, and coating the solution on an aluminium substrate. |
