In an electrochemical cell having a lithium anode and sulphuryl chloride in the electrolyte, the carbon cathode is doped with a catalyst consisting of an element of the platinum group. A slight addition of platinum, palladium, rhodium or ruthenium increases the cell voltage and the efficiency of the cathode substantially. |
