A scanning system for a recording medium with mechanical contact between scanner (14) and recording medium (16) (PCM player) is placed on the recording medium (16) by means of an electromagnetic drive. By use of a hinged armature magnet, a counter-spring (10) and a working air gap (6) with trapezoidal toothing, a defined movement of the armature, proportional to a control current, is achieved. <IMAGE>
