A rocket launcher comprises a supporting frame 24 and a firing tube 1 mounted therein for free rotation about its axis, means being provided for rotating the firing tube prior to the exit of the rocket 2 to impart a spin to the rocket. The means may comprise blades 4 formed on the rear end of the firing tube against which blades gas from the ignited rocket propellant impinges. The blades may be formed on a member which retains a hinged tail-fin system folded against the rocket, the retaining member being held in the firing tube by a claw (Figs. 3, 4, not shown). The means may also comprise auxiliary propelling means which are provided equi-spaced about the periphery of the firing tube (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) or about the periphery of a retaining member (Figs. 7, 8, not shown). The auxiliary propelling means may be combined with the blades (Figs. 8, 9, not shown). Further the firing tube may be rotatably mounted within a further tube which is itself rotatably mounted in the supporting frame, the further tube being rotated by a motor to eliminate frictional forces between the firing tube and the further tube (Fig. 11, not shown). |
