The electronic jewel works on smal bateries, having an inbuilt light-emitting diode burning for 400-600 hrs. The two battery cells, connected in series, supply 2.8 volts, falling to 1.6 volts at the end of their life. The diode chip with swith resistance incorpoaed is enclosed in a housing with clear epoxy lens and white ceramic base, while both wires are of round silver-coated copper. The batteries are enclosed in a flexible plastic casing. It works only when the battery poles are correctly connected, and is switched off by reversing the polarity of the diode. |
