PURPOSE:To recognize a graphic pattern stably, by grasping outline information of the graphic pattern as attribute information such as directions, curvatures, and lengths of macroscopically divided outline segments and indicating outline information as segment information. CONSTITUTION:Input graphic pattern information is led to an outline extracting part 1, and the outline of a graphic pattern is traced to extract and detect attribute information of each outline segment. Graphic pattern information is led to a feature extracting part 2, and information for determining a collation start segment of outline segments and information selecting dictionary patterns which are selected preliminarily as collation objects are extracted on a basis of this overall feature detection of the part 2. Segment train information consisting of attribute information of outline segments of dictionary patterns corresponding to plural categories are stored in a dictionary memory 3. In a dictionary collating part 4, pattern segments and dictionary segments are collated with each other in 1:1. |
