PURPOSE:To make the device small-sized, by connecting a thyristor having a large capacity, which can endure the short-circuit current of the load side, to only a by-passing tap of a static type automatic voltage adjuster and making only the by-passing tap conductive when an excessive current is flowed. CONSTITUTION:A static type voltage adjuster inserted between power supply-side terminals 12s and 12's and load-side terminals 12r and 12'r consists of an adjusting transformer 11 of an autotransformer having multistage taps t1-tn, thyristors S1-Sn, current transformers CT1-CTn, and reactors L1-Ln. A controller 6 controls turning-on and off of thyristors S1-Sn to switch taps t1-tn of the adjusting transformer 11 so as to keep the line voltage in a prescribed value and makes the thyristor S1 of the by-passing tap conductive when a CT of the line detects an excessive current. Thus, the device is made small-sized and lightweight. |
