PURPOSE:To switch freely the sequence of the time series optical signals through an electrical control, by connecting an optional incident terminal to an optional output terminal among (2X2) optical switches having two incident and output terminals respectively by means of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An incident terminal 12 and an output terminal 14 of an optical switch 1 are connected to each other by means of an optical fiber 3. When no electric signal is applied to the switch 1 through an electric circuit 2, the incident terminals 11 and 12 have the optical paths shown by solid lines 15 and 16 and connected to the output terminals 13 and 14 respectively. When an electric signal is applied to the switch 1, the terminals 11 and 12 are connected to the terminals 14 and 13 via the optical paths shown by broken lines 17 and 18. Thus it is possible to control electrically and switch optionally the sequence of the time series optical signals or to compress the interval between the optical signals. |
