The refrigeration system using a refrigerant for cooling a fluid has a compressor(110) for increasing the temp. & the press. of the gaseous refrigerant. A condenser(122) changes the refrigerant from the compressor from a gas to a liquid. A thermal economizer(128) is also provided with an economizer condenser(142) & and evaporator. The thermal economizer partially flashes the liq. from the condenser & the flashed refrigerant absorbs heat from the remaining refrigerant. The economizer condenses the flash gas to a liq. The evaporator receives liq. refrigerant & supplies gaseous refrigerant to the compressor.
