A process for producing spherical carrier particles for olefin polymerization catalyst, which comprises (i) forming a suspension of particles in the molten state of an adduct of a halogen-containing magnesium compound and an active hydrogen-containing organic compound in an organic liquid medium in the presence of at least one surfaceactive agent as an auxiliary component, and (ii) quenching the resulting suspension to solidify the adduct particles.
